Plot

In the sun-drenched charm of Saint-Tropez, lovers Marianne and Jean-Paul retreat to a friend's mansion, seeking solace from their chaotic lives. Jean-Paul, a writer weathered by the cruel winds of failure, attempts to recover from the harsh criticism of his last novel, finding comfort in the villa's alluring swimming pool - an oasis of peace amidst his tumultuous reality. Their tranquil escape, however, is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Harry, Marianne's ex-lover, and his teenage daughter Pénélope. As the composer Harry's melodies of past love with Marianne begin to echo through the mansion, a palpable tension inflates the summer air. Consumed by an unsettling blend of jealousy and indifference, Jean-Paul surrenders to the siren's call of young Pénélope, stoking the dormant embers of Harry's resentment towards him. The simmering conflict reaches a boiling point one fateful night when an intoxicated Harry confronts Jean-Paul, plunging the peaceful villa into a whirlpool of chaos and betrayal. In a chilling turn of events, Harry meets a watery demise in the villa's once serene swimming pool, with Jean-Paul at the helm. As Jean-Paul meticulously weaves a web of deception, painting Harry's death as a tragic accident, the sharp-eyed Inspector Lévêque is drawn into the murky depths of this twisted tale. As the swimming pool turns from a haven of tranquility to a stage of infidelity and deceit, one wonders - can Jean-Paul keep his secrets submerged or will justice rise to the surface? The Swimming Pool is a riveting exploration of love, betrayal, and the deadly consequences of passion unchained.
