In the heart of the city, Michel, a middle-aged man managing a graphic design company, is ensnared by an unyielding passion for planes. Amidst the humdrum of daily life - at work, in the shower, even atop his scooter - he finds himself daydreaming of soaring the skies as an intrepid explorer. But his fascination with airmail and his idolization of Jean Mermoz are held captive by urbanity until one fateful day, a photograph of a kayak captures his imagination. To him, these kayaks, these waterborne vessels, they're akin to wingless planes, beckoning him towards a different kind of exploration. Swept away by a sudden, wild impulse, Michel plunges into the unknown, ordering a canoe, paddles, and everything required for an aquatic expedition. Despite never having rowed a boat in his life, he is encouraged by his wife, Rachelle, to embark on this solitary escapade, because after all, adventure is adventure. As he embarks on his journey, Michel's venture on the water unravels an array of surprises and serendipitous encounters. He stumbles upon Laetitia, a quirky bar owner along the river, her eccentric employees, and Mila, a young waitress whose company proves too enchanting for Michel to easily abandon. The Sweet Escape is an unexpected journey of a man, propelled by curiosity and the charm of the unfamiliar, creating an engaging narrative that reminds us that adventure lies in the most unexpected corners of life.
