The Stepfather (2009)

In the heat of summer, accomplished swimmer Michael Harding (Penn Badgely) trades the regimented halls of his military academy for the familiar comforts of home. But his return is met with an unexpected surprise: his mother Susan's (Sela Ward) new boyfriend, the charming widower David Harris (Dylan Walsh). As Michael adjusts to this familial rearrangement, he finds his suspicions stirred by David's persistent avoidance of official documentation, despite his new role as a real estate agent secured by Susan's sister, Beth (Skyler Samuels). Despite his girlfriend Kelly Porter's (Amber Heard) reassurances that David's support in his swimming career and promise to provide a stable home are all that matter, a veil of unease cloaks Michael.
