Plot

In the picturesque domain of Euphrania, a fairytale realm steeped in tradition and royal intrigue, the enchanting tale of Cinderella (Gemma Craven) unfolds. This heartwarming narrative begins with the life-altering demise of Cinderella's affluent and doting father, who unwittingly bequeaths his vast estate to his self-serving second wife, Cinderella's Stepmother (Margaret Lockwood). As a consequence of this unfortunate arrangement, Cinderella finds herself cruelly banished to the mansion's dungeon kitchen, transformed from cherished daughter to an overworked servant at the mercy of her stepmother and her pampered offspring. Parallel to Cinderella's plight, the reigning King (Sir Michael Hordern) and Queen (Lally Bowers) of Euphrania grapple with the dilemma of securing their kingdom's future. Their noble son, Prince Edward (Richard Chamberlain), is expected to marry a chosen Princess to forge critical alliances amid a volatile geopolitical landscape. However, the romantic Prince yearns to marry for love, not convenience, causing royal discord. In an attempt to assuage the crisis, the King's advisers suggest a grand 'bride finding ball,' an idea that both excites and horrifies Prince Edward. As the ball draws near, Cinderella, already burdened by her servile existence, is enlisted to prepare her stepmother and stepsisters for the grand event. It is amidst this tumultuous backdrop that a peculiar yet endearing stranger arrives at the kitchen doorstep, revealing herself to be Cinderella's Fairy Godmother (Annette Crosbie). Armed with magic, albeit limited, this unexpected savior transforms Cinderella into the enchanting Princess "Incognita", ensuring her attendance at the ball. However, the magic is fleeting, lasting only until the stroke of midnight. Amid the glimmering gowns and royal splendor, Prince Edward is instantly smitten with the mysterious "Incognita". Their budding romance is cut short as the clock strikes twelve, leaving behind nothing but a delicate slipper and a smitten Prince longing for his lost love. In his quest to find the woman who fits the slipper, Prince Edward must overcome societal norms that blind him to the possibility of Cinderella, the lowly servant girl. Even if he unravels the truth, the path to their happily-ever-after is fraught with obstacles, namely the King's determination and Cinderella's scheming Stepmother. This beautifully spun version of the classic Cinderella story is a lyrical exploration of love, destiny, and the courage to defy convention.
