Plot

In the late 1930s, a young, gifted machinist named Maurice Richard emerges from the shadows, showcasing his extraordinary talent on the ice rink. His exceptional prowess earns him a coveted spot on the Montreal Canadiens, but frequent injuries cast a cloud of doubt over his potential, causing both his team and supporters to question his place amongst them. Amidst this skepticism, Richard, or "The Rocket," as he is increasingly known, begins to demonstrate a fierce and masterful performance that would etch his name in the annals of ice hockey greatness. However, Richard, along with his fellow French Canadians, continuously grapples with the stifling discrimination in a league where English dominance is prevalent. A man of silent strength, Richard gradually finds his voice, vocalizing his discontentment over the pervasive injustice, igniting a clash within the organization. This escalating tension leads to Richard's notorious 1955 season suspension, triggering an explosive ethnic riot in response. As he navigates these turbulent waters, Richard is faced with a profound question: for whom is he truly playing? This narrative explores his journey, as he negotiates personal ambition, team loyalty, and cultural identity, all while skating on the thin ice of societal prejudice. Will he succumb to the pressure or rise as the legendary "Rocket" Richard?
