In the perilous aftermath of the Civil War, Bud Massidy, a drifter stripped of all possessions, stumbles upon a deathly scene of fallen Union soldiers, victims of the savage Osage Indians. Among the wreckage, he finds a dying trooper clutching an official document, a desperate plea for $150,000 from Wagon City's bank for the army's wages.
