The Revenge of Frankenstein (1958)

Having narrowly evaded the shadow of the guillotine, Baron Victor Frankenstein, now under the more inconspicuous alias of Dr. Victor Stein, finds himself in the bustling town of Carlsbruck, Germany. The town, unaware of his dark past, regards him as a beacon of hope, a successful physician who runs a hospital for the less fortunate. However, the tranquility of his new life is disrupted when he's recognized by the ambitious Dr. Hans Kleve. Rather than expose him, Kleve coerces Frankenstein into a sinister partnership, fueled by his insatiable curiosity for Frankenstein's notorious experiments. Three years into his hidden existence, Frankenstein resumes his quest for reanimation. At the heart of his experiment is the hunchback Karl Immelmann, who had once facilitated his escape from the jaws of death. Frankenstein promises Karl a new life, a chance to exist in a perfect body, free from his deformity. Karl's brain is successfully transplanted into an ideal body, a medical marvel kept secret in the attic of the hospital. However, secrecy proves elusive as a prying janitor stumbles upon their clandestine patient. A whispering campaign ensues, and Nurse Margaret Conrad is drawn into the web of secrecy. She discovers Karl, trapped in the attic, and out of sympathy, releases him. But freedom brings fear for Karl, who becomes terrified of becoming a spectacle in the world of medicine. Karl's flight from the hospital leads to a violent encounter, leaving a trail of death in his wake. Panic sets in as his mind and body begin to deteriorate, and in a moment of desperation, he publicly exposes Dr. Frankenstein's true identity. As the town is thrown into chaos, one is left to wonder: what will become of Karl, and what future awaits the once again exposed Dr. Frankenstein?
