Plot

In a whimsical, animated kingdom, where everything from the inhabitants to the architecture boasts a pointed edge, lives an exceptional boy named Oblio (Mike Lookinland). He disrupts the status quo with his round head, yet his amicable nature earns him a horde of friends. However, Oblio's popularity stokes the envy of an evil Count (Lennie Weinrib), whose son (Buddy Foster) constantly falls short of Oblio's charm. The Count, incensed by Oblio's round-headed uniqueness, declares him an outlaw, citing his lack of a point as a violation of the kingdom's norms. Banished to the seemingly pointless forest, Oblio, along with his loyal dog, Arrow, embarks on a journey that is anything but ordinary. The forest teems with eccentric characters — a comical, three-headed man, gargantuan bees, a savvy tree running a leaf-selling business (Paul Frees), and a jovial old rock (Bill Martin) — each adding a unique shade to Oblio's adventure. As a father narrates this peculiar tale to his son at bedtime, he weaves in the story of Oblio's self-discovery. Through his encounters with the forest's eclectic inhabitants and his survival in the wild, Oblio unravels a profound truth — having a point isn't about physical attributes but about one's purpose and significance in life. Accompanied by an enchanting score composed and performed by Harry Nilsson ("Me and My Arrow"), who is also the story's creator, "The Point" is an animated journey that nudges viewers to look beyond the literal and find their own point in the seemingly pointless.
