Plot

In the heart of New York City, Tory Hedderman, a sixteen-year-old teen, thrives in his self-absorbed bubble, indifferent to the world around him. He is a brooding figure, detached from the common threads of empathy and compassion. However, a seismic shift in his life occurs when his family relocates to the rustic terrain of West Virginia. Caught defacing a town statue, a revered emblem of a WWI veteran, Tory finds himself thrust into the world he once chose to ignore. He is condemned to community service at a local veteran's hospital, a world far removed from his previous life. In this new setting, Tory meets a cast of characters who challenge his narrow worldview and force him to confront his apathy. "The Pledge" is a poignant family drama that seamlessly intertwines documentary footage of genuine veterans sharing their thoughts on patriotism, the current generation's attitudes, and the rapidly changing world. It is a journey of transformation and awakening, a tale of a young man's reluctant pledge that ultimately becomes his path to understanding.
