The Pledge (2011)

In the heart of New York City, Tory Hedderman, a sixteen-year-old teen, thrives in his self-absorbed bubble, indifferent to the world around him. He is a brooding figure, detached from the common threads of empathy and compassion. However, a seismic shift in his life occurs when his family relocates to the rustic terrain of West Virginia. Caught defacing a town statue, a revered emblem of a WWI veteran, Tory finds himself thrust into the world he once chose to ignore. He is condemned to community service at a local veteran's hospital, a world far removed from his previous life. In this new setting, Tory meets a cast of characters who challenge his narrow worldview and force him to confront his apathy.
