Plot
Charlotte was a brilliant musical prodigy, but she had to abandon her cello studies to take care of her sick mother. After her mother's death, she reconnects with her former teacher and his wife, and they invite her to Shanghai where they are currently choosing a new student. There, Charlotte befriends another star student, Lizzie. When the two head off into rural China together, Lizzie becomes seriously ill. What follows is a series of hallucinatory events and shocking revelations.
