Plot

In the late 1960s, a squadron of Australian SAS regiment soldiers find themselves plunged into the heart of the Vietnam War. The Odd Angry Shot offers a stark depiction of war, seen through the lens of these brave men. From the stifling monotony of camp life and seemingly pointless long-range patrols to the heart-stopping terror of enduring relentless mortar attacks from an invisible foe, the soldiers' experiences oscillate between extremes. The story doesn't shy away from the grim realities of war; men are maimed and perish in the face of relentless firefights and insidious booby traps. Yet, it also highlights the soldiers' determination as they capture enemies, gather crucial intelligence, and reclaim ground only to lose it once more in the constant ebb and flow of conflict. All the while, they grapple with the bureaucratic red tape and stubbornness of the traditional military hierarchy, an unseen adversary within their own ranks. The film culminates as these hardened soldiers, forever altered by the trials and tribulations they've encountered, return to civilization. Though scarred by war, they are grateful to retreat to the familiar comforts of the life they once knew. The Odd Angry Shot is a stirring exploration of war's brutal realities and the indomitable human spirit that endures amidst them.
