Plot

Crisp and contemporary, Charlotte is the epitome of chic, her veneer as flawless as the pages of the fashion magazines she peruses. Is her figure ideal? That's a question she grapples with in suburban Paris, where she shares her life with her son and her husband, Pierre, a skilled pilot. Yet her heart throbs for another - Robert, a charismatic actor. Her life is a careful balancing act - secret rendezvous with Robert, formal dinners with Pierre and his associates, and unsettling visits to the physician. The atmosphere at home is a ticking time bomb; Pierre, having had his wife shadowed in the past, is a volcano of suppressed anger. Their marital games have a razor-sharp edge, with Pierre's violent outbursts followed by remorseful apologies. Charlotte probes Robert's sincerity - is he just playing a part, even in their intimate moments? A twist of fate could force her to decide between Robert and Pierre. The screen brims with close-ups, begging the question - is there a depth to Charlotte beyond the superficial? Her eyes glisten with unshed tears. All the while, the distant drumbeats of war form a chilling backdrop, a stark contrast to the personal drama unfolding on the screen.
