In the aftermath of World War II, Marion Scott, a decorated soldier with an honorable discharge, embarks on a journey to the quaint hometown of his fallen comrade, intending to make this charming hamlet his own sanctuary. His journey takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Wilhelmina Hammond, a wealthy society belle fleeing from her rigid fiancée, Alvin Bailey, in a stolen car.
