In the electrifying world of utility maintenance, three linemen of the electric company - the charismatic Torchy, the lanky Slim, and the earnest Eddie - find themselves constantly at odds with their no-nonsense supervisor, "Pop" Foster. Despite their carefree attitudes clashing with Pop's stern demeanor, the men share a mutual respect and camaraderie that runs deep. On the cusp of Pop's retirement and his 25-year service pin award, a fateful emergency repair call sets a tragic narrative in motion. Descending into the dark depths of a city manhole to investigate the issue, Pop's life is extinguished in an explosion - a catastrophic event inadvertently triggered by Torchy's disregard for caution. Stunned by the tragedy and wracked with guilt, the trio makes a pact to look after Pop's vivacious young daughter, Ann. Soon, Ann finds herself in the unique position of housekeeper in their shared home, her presence adding a touch of domesticity to their bachelor's den. However, her radiant charm and youthful spirit spark a romantic tension that begins to simmer beneath the surface. As each lineman grapples with burgeoning feelings for Ann, she too finds herself drawn to one of them. This unexpected love triangle inevitably leads to a host of complications, as they navigate the tricky terrain of love, guilt, and loyalty.
