Plot

In the labyrinth of illusion and reality, Toby, a jaded yet prodigious film director, finds himself ensnared in the grandiose fantasies of an elderly Spanish cobbler. The craftsman, lost in his own delirium, wholeheartedly believes himself to be the legendary Don Quixote. As they embark on a series of comic, surreal escapades, a veil of fantasy and time-shifting adventures pulls Toby deeper into a world where dreams and reality blur into one. Haunted by the shadows of his idealistic past, Toby must confront the dire aftermath of a film he crafted in his youth—a film that forever altered the aspirations and dreams of a quaint Spanish hamlet. Caught in this whirlwind of madness, he must grapple with his role in this transformation and question his own humanity. As the narrative unfolds, the line between the man and the myth becomes increasingly blurred. Is the cobbler truly the embodiment of the whimsical Don Quixote, or just a simple man lost in his own madness? Can Toby reconcile with his past and restore his lost humanity amid this chaos? Will Don Quixote outlive his delusions and impending doom, or will the power of love reveal a path to salvation? The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is a dizzying journey of redemption and realization, where the specter of dreams can either be an escape or a harsh awakening to reality.
