Plot

In the arid expanses of the desert, the solitary drifter William "Billy the Kid" Bonney, burdened by the saddle of his departed horse, crosses paths with the influential cattle owner John "The Englishman" Tunstall. Spotting potential in the young outcast, Tunstall offers him a job to guide his cattle to Lincoln, setting the stage for a rare friendship to bloom. Yet, their tranquil existence is shattered when the ambitious Sheriff Brady and his accomplices, including the ruthless rancher Morton, ambush and murder Tunstall in an attempt to seize his herd. Fuelled by a potent cocktail of grief and rage, Billy vows vengeance against these men. Joining forces with his loyal friends, the resilient Charlie Boudre and the stoic Tom Folliar, he embarks on a bloody quest for justice, plunging the lives of those he holds dear into chaos. Amid the turmoil, he finds solace in the home of the benevolent McSween and, later, in the idyllic town of Madeiro where he reunites with old friends, the affable Pat Garret and the enchanting Celsa, whose love for Billy remains undeterred by his fugitive status. As the New Mexico Territory teeters on the brink of anarchy, Governor Lew Wallace offers a beacon of hope, proclaiming a General Amnesty. With his name cleared, Billy's thirst for revenge should come to an end. However, the shadows of his past continue to haunt him, with Moon and Hill, two of Tunstall's killers, still at large. Torn between the allure of a peaceful life and his enduring need for retribution, Billy stands on the precipice of a decision that could once again inflame the New Mexico Territory or finally bring about the elusive peace promised by Governor Wallace.
