Plot

Emerging from the classic tapestry of Persian literature, "The Shahnameh," or "The Book of Kings," "The Last Fiction" unfolds as a riveting tale of power, prophecy, and a primal struggle between darkness and light. This vibrant animated feature, the first of its kind crafted entirely in Iran, spins the intertwined narratives of the ambitious ruler Zahak and the destined hero Afaridoun, set against the historical backdrop of ancient Persia, known as Jamkard. Zahak, a ruler seduced by power, ascends to the throne through treachery, his soul tainted by a Faustian pact. This once conqueror of the Nether world, now sits on the throne, his spirit haunted by the echoes of his malevolent deeds. An unsettling prophecy further casts a shadow over his reign, foretelling the rise of a young man, an innocent he had wronged, who will challenge his sinister reign. Enter the realm of Afaridoun, a young hero chosen by fate to liberate the kingdom from Zahak's oppressive darkness. But before he can embark on the path of a savior, he must first conquer the demons within. Parallel to this, Kaveh, a humble blacksmith, sparks a revolt, embodying the eternal struggle between light and darkness. As Zahak grapples with the evil coursing through his veins and the looming threat of his downfall, and Afaridoun embarks on a journey of self-discovery and courage, the kingdom of Jamkard holds its breath, awaiting salvation or doom. "The Last Fiction" is not just a tale of kings and heroes, but a timeless saga of inner struggles, the power of prophecy, and the eternal dance of darkness and light. Will this age-old battle find its end in the heart of ancient Persia? The stage is set for the final act.
