In the twilight hours of public-access television, the show "Fact or Fiction" stands as an enigmatic beacon, its hosts, Steven Avkast and Locus Wheeler, attaining an almost cult-like reverence among local youths. As their swan song, they decide to broadcast the "Jersey Devil" episode live, a daring expedition into the heart of New Jersey's shadowy Pine Barrens. Keen to make it a spectacle, they enlist the help of two fervent fans they met online, Rein Clackin and Jim Suerd. A harmless concept at first glance, yet it spirals into a horrifying mystery now remembered as the Jersey Devil murders. The aftermath leaves the authorities sifting through disarray and gore; two days to locate scattered human remains, four days to puzzle them back together. Meanwhile, only one member of the original trio resurfaces from the forest, the weight of suspicion heavy on his shoulders as he becomes the prime suspect in his team's chilling disappearance. Yet, not everyone is convinced by this narrative. A local filmmaker stumbles upon extensive footage left behind at the gruesome scene. Intrigued and defiant, they embark on a painstaking journey to scrutinize each frame, each cryptic hint. As the footage unfurls, a different, possibly more horrifying, conclusion begins to take shape. The "Last Broadcast" serves as a chilling reminder that not every tale spun in the murky depths of the Pine Barrens stays buried in legend, and sometimes, reality is far more terrifying than folklore.
