The Land of Steady Habits (2018)

In the affluent, suffocating confines of Westport, Connecticut, Anders Harris (Ben Mendelsohn) finds himself yearning for an escape from his monotonous existence. Forsaking the world of finance and his matrimonial ties to his wife (Edie Falco), he embarks on a pursuit for a renewed sense of vitality. Yet, the harsh reality of his newfound freedom strikes him with staggering force; he spends his days aimlessly adorning his barren shelves, engaging in fleeting romances, all the while grappling with a profound sense of displacement. With the loss of his ex-wife gnawing at his heart and relations with his troubled 27-year-old son (Thomas Mann) strained, Anders forms an unlikely bond with a drug-dependent teenager (Charlie Tahan). This marks the onset of a reckless journey into a maze of regrettable decisions. As the consequences of his actions come home to roost, he is forced to confront the essence of his identity, not just as a father, but as a man seeking his place in the world.
