The death of Scott's dad has left him gripped in a state of arrested development. Despite being in his thirties, Scott spends all his time smoking weed, playing video games with his friends, and practicing his work as a tattoo artist — but he clearly has no drive for the latter apart from a passing fascination. But his mom's new boyfriend throws his life of complacency into a tailspin. Rough firefighter Ray sees the impact that Scott's laziness is having on his mother's life, and he can't stand it. The two will butt heads initially, but Ray could offer Scott a window into what his dad was like.
