Plot

In an unexpected twist of fate, Jerry Peyser, a prim and proper Chicago podiatrist with an aversion to risk, and Steve Tobias, an audacious CIA operative who thrives in the thrill of danger, find their lives hilariously entwined as they prepare to become in-laws in just four days. Jerry, the epitome of controlled living, is thrown into a whirlwind of chaos and uncertainty when he finally meets Steve, his soon-to-be family member who is perpetually absent from family gatherings due to his demanding and secretive occupation. Unbeknownst to Jerry, Steve isn't just a regular photocopy machine salesman, as his son Mark claims. Instead, he is a deep undercover CIA agent, juggling dangerous missions involving international arms smugglers and elusive runaways like the enigmatic Olga. Steve's work, an intricate web of espionage and high-stakes dealings, has always eclipsed his personal life, a fact that Mark is aware of but sworn to secrecy. Steve's life of intrigue and danger comes crashing into Jerry's meticulously organized world during an undercover work dinner, where Jerry stumbles upon a covert operation involving a French arms dealer, the volatile Jean-Pierre Thibodoux. Jerry, unwillingly embroiled in Steve's mission, grapples with the reality that Steve might not be one of the "good guys," especially when the FBI steps in, suspecting Steve of going rogue. With the wedding of their children Melissa and Mark on the horizon, Jerry must confront his worst fears, seeing visions of the grandeur event he meticulously planned shattering into chaos. The unlikely duo embarks on a series of hair-raising adventures that catapult them across the globe, making Jerry question if welcoming Steve into his family implies taking the phrase 'til death do us part' a tad too seriously. Adding to the comedic chaos is the presence of Judy Tobias, Steve's ex-wife and Mark's mother, who despises everything about her ex-husband but one aspect. Amidst the unfolding pandemonium, the future of the wedding hangs in balance, as does the lives of the unexpected pair. It's a roller-coaster ride of suspense, laughter, and family ties that tests the limits of pre-nuptial anxiety and familial bonds.
