Plot

In the shadowy corners of nineteenth-century France, young Teresa Garan, the offspring of a cabaret singer, finds herself thrust into an enigmatic boarding school run by the staunch and stern Ms. Fourneau. Teresa's world is turned upside down as she discovers that the boarding school is not only a place of learning but also a sinister prison, tightly locked and guarded by Ms. Fourneau's protégé, the ruthless Irene Tupan. Irene's reign of terror over the girls unfolds in a horrific tableau of bullying and torment, her power unchecked and unrestrained. Meanwhile, Teresa learns of Ms. Fourneau's peculiar adolescent son, Luis. A recluse by his mother's design, Luis is kept away from the girls, his mother insistent that he must wait for a girl "like his mother". Ms. Fourneau dismisses the girls of the boarding school as unworthy, enhancing the chilling atmosphere of the school. Simultaneously, a sense of dread engulfs the school as students begin to disappear without a trace. The remaining girls convince themselves that their mates are merely escaping the boarding school's grim clutches, blissfully unaware of a lurking serial killer claiming them one by one. The plot thickens when Irene discovers a clandestine rendezvous between Teresa and Luis. In a fit of rage, she subjects Teresa to unspeakable torture, pushing her to plot an escape under the cloak of night. As Teresa ventures into the unknown, the question remains - what fate awaits her in the darkness? The House That Screamed is a chilling tale of repression, terror, and the desperate struggle for freedom. It's an eerie journey into a world where discipline masks depravity and innocence meets its untimely end. Beware of the cut versions as the true horror of the tale unfolds only in its complete form, much like the spine-tingling echoes of a house that screamed back in the 70's.
