In the year 1935, young Collin Fenwick is catapulted into an eccentric world following his mother's death. He finds solace in the arms of his father's fascinating cousins, the domineering Verena Talbo and her gentle-hearted sister, Dolly. Verena is a prominent figure in the town, her wealth and power extending into every corner, while Dolly, in her humble manner, is known for her locally-celebrated tonic.
