Jeannette is on the eve of marrying a man that she adores, but she takes the time to reflect back on the circumstances that led her there. By any account, her dysfunctional upbringing shouldn't have led her to an impending marriage in a big city. Despite running from debts and picking up menial jobs to barely get by, her father had long promised the family a glass castle to live in. The meticulous task of refining the castle's design was just a small respite from the frustrations of subsistence living. It's feelings she'll need to reconcile while also contending with her family's distaste for her new life.
