Plot

In a daring escape from a seedy roadhouse controlled by her morally bankrupt mother and stepfather, Eadie Chapman and her steadfast companion, Kitty, venture into the world of glitz and glamour as showgirls. Eadie, however, isn't just another starlet seeking fame. She's a girl with a plan, her sights set on marrying a millionaire and preserving her virtue until she does. Her past, tainted with easy morals, has shaped her future aspirations, pushing her to aim for a life of affluence and respect. Eadie's journey takes a twist when her first wealthy suitor meets an untimely end. Undeterred, she sets her sights on her next target, the affluent and elderly C.R. Paige. The plot thickens as Paige's son, the playboy Tom, finds himself irresistibly drawn to Eadie's magnetic charm. Eadie, however, keeps her cards close to her chest, playing hard to get without a marriage proposal. In this whirlwind of passion and ambition, Eadie must navigate her way through the high society, resist the charms of a persuasive playboy, and dodge the cynical interventions of a skeptical father. All the while, her faithful friend Kitty keeps stumbling into the arms of servants, adding a touch of humor and warmth to their shared adventure. Will Eadie successfully land a rich husband, or will Tom's relentless pursuit break down her resistance? The Girl from Missouri is a captivating tale of ambition, love, and resilience set against the vibrant backdrop of showbiz in the 1930s.
