Plot

The Gaylord sisters - Fiona, Evelyn, and Susanna - have navigated the tempestuous waters of life on their own for twenty-three years since their parents' tragic demise. Thrust into the throes of tragedy early in life, their mother drowned on the ill-fated Lusitania and their father perished on the battlefields of WWI. The sisters, each with their unique personalities and struggles, reside in their ancestral Fifth Avenue mansion, a towering symbol of their family's legacy. Susanna, the youngest and most innocent, finds herself in a complex love triangle, entangled with a modern artist, Gig Young, despite her unconsummated marriage. Evelyn, the impulsive middle sister and now Lady Burton, is caught in a loveless relationship with an RAF pilot, desiring Gig's affections while enjoying the prestige her title affords her. The eldest, Fiona, is the pillar of strength and focus, her father's teachings about the Gaylord traditions etched in her heart, particularly the one about never selling their home. The sisters find themselves embroiled in a legal battle over their father's unresolved will, a twist of fate that could drain their finances and threaten their beloved home. A man named Charles Barclay, who has taken over a charity mentioned in a subsequent version of their father's will, seems to be exploiting the situation to force Fiona to sell the mansion for his real estate ambitions. Fiona, determined to protect their legacy, marries Charles in a strategic move to secure her inheritance. As the intricate web of love, deceit, and family tradition unravels, Fiona must spar with Barclay to protect the Gaylord's legacy, while Susanna and Evelyn navigate their own romantic entanglements. The Gay Sisters is a captivating tale of resilience, love, and the lengths one would go to protect their family's heritage amidst the backdrop of New York's high society.
