Plot

As the festive season approaches, a bitter and estranged Adam Thornton is faced with a stark reality — his life is nearing its end. This realization prompts a desperate need to mend the fences he had broken years ago. Adam, a once commanding executive, had forsaken his wife and four children, leaving a trail of resentment and animosity in his wake. Haunted by the specter of his impending demise, he turns to his ex-wife, the only person who might help him in his quest for atonement. He yearns to gather his fragmented family together one last time, hoping to heal old wounds without revealing the urgency dictated by his terminal illness. His ex-wife, despite their troubled past, encourages him to make this final attempt at reconciliation. However, Adam's path to redemption isn't easy. His stubborn nature and the pain of abandonment have driven a deep wedge between him and his children, especially his youngest son, who vanished after a heated argument Adam now regrets. As his health deteriorates, his doctor advises against travel, leading him to extend an invitation for a Christmas reunion. As the snow falls and Christmas draws near, the family members, lured by curiosity and a glimmer of hope, start to trickle in. But the question remains: will Adam's sudden plea for forgiveness thaw the icy hearts of his family or will he be left out in the cold? The Gathering is a poignant exploration of regret, reconciliation, and the enduring power of family bonds amidst life's harshest winters.
