Plot

In the autumn of 1888, a remarkable event took place in Leeds, England. Louis Le Prince, an innovator with patents in both America and the UK, did the unthinkable - he created the world's first films. As he honed his projection machine, Le Prince prepared to unveil his groundbreaking discovery to the American public and, by extension, the world. However, destiny played a cruel joke. On the fateful day of September 16, 1890, mere weeks before his voyage to New York, Le Prince boarded a train from Dijon to Paris, only to vanish into thin air. His disappearance left a gaping hole in history and a vacuum in the legal world - no one could contest Le Prince's claim to the invention of the first filming camera, as his body was never discovered. Years later, Thomas Edison and the Lumiere Brothers rose to fame, claiming the honor and glory of pioneering film, while Le Prince's name sank into the depths of oblivion. His monumental achievement and the recognition he deserved lay buried, all but for a single, persistent voice echoing in the wilderness - a voice of someone who once worked closely with him. "The First Film" is a full-length documentary that aims to set the record straight, asserting unequivocally that it was Le Prince who crafted the world's inaugural moving image film, from a unique vantage point in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. This film is a tribute to an unsung hero, a forgotten legend who dared to dream and bring those dreams to life.
