The End (2012)

In the heart of an isolated cabin, shrouded in the whispers of the past and the unyielding embrace of the mountain wilderness, a reunion unfolds after two long decades. Sara orchestrates this gathering, beckoning her old friends back to the very spot where they last convened. The motley group includes Félix with his youthful companion Eva, Maribel who's left her children behind to attend with her husband Rafa, the enigmatic Hugo and his wife Cova, and the solitary figure of Sergio. A sense of unease permeates the air, amplified by the concerning absence of their friend Ángel, known as the 'Prophet'. The reunion, it transpires, was not Sara's brainchild but Ángel's. A shroud of secrecy hangs heavy over a chilling event that transpired two decades prior, involving the Prophet. A sudden flash of lightning, followed by a rolling thunder, plunges them into an eerie darkness, severing their connection to the world beyond the cabin, draining their devices of power, and leaving their cars useless. As the group grapples with the escalating tension, Eva uncovers the dark truth about Ángel. Forced into a drug-induced stupor twenty years ago, he spiraled into violent episodes, predicting the world's demise, ultimately leading to his confinement in an asylum. The friends, except for Sara, never visited him in the institution, and suspicion takes root that this reunion might be some twisted plot of Ángel's. When dawn breaks, Rafa is nowhere to be found, fueling their fears and prompting them to seek help from the nearest town. But as they embark on their journey, one by one, they begin to vanish, swallowed by the end of days. Beneath the veneer of laughter and shared stories, an ominous past continues to haunt this group of old friends. Their plans are derailed by a mysterious incident, leaving them isolated and vulnerable. As the group starts to crumble under the weight of their unsaid truths, an astounding new natural order is revealed, forever altering their perception of reality. They must face the unsettling truth that sometimes, the past never really leaves us.
