The Eagle (2011)

This film is historical fiction that takes place in 140 AD when Rome ruled Britain. The Ninth Legion marched into Caledonia north of Hadrian’s Wall and disappeared along with their legion emblem a golden eagle. The leader’s son arrives in Britain to find out what happened to his father’s legion and retrieve the golden eagle. He needs the permission of his uncle, who thinks he’s crazy to attempt the recovery but agrees to let him go. Accompanied by a slave he saved from being killed by a gladiator, the son crosses Hadrian’s Wall and goes into the wilds of what is today Scotland to avenge his father.

The Eagle is an adventure movie featuring Channing Tatum and directed by Kevin Macdonald.
