Plot

In the tumultuous wake of the Daltons' death at Coffeyville, a late arriving cowboy named Wild Bill Doolin (Randolph Scott), finds himself ensnared in a deadly turn of fate. Having unintentionally killed a man in the ensuing chaos, Doolin's life takes a dark detour as he becomes a wanted fugitive. Amid the escalating tensions, he rises to the challenge, morphing from a simple cowboy to the infamous leader of the Doolin gang, navigating the perilous terrain of the Oklahoma outlaw culture. However, when the relentless pursuit of U.S. Marshals led by the relentless Marshal Sam Hughes (George Macready) begins to close in, Doolin makes a daring attempt to renounce his life of crime. Disbanding his notorious gang, he assumes an alias and ventures towards a peaceful existence. He purchases a farm and takes a wife, the lovely Elaine Burton (Virginia Huston), hoping to lose himself in the tranquility of domestic life. But the echoes of his past refuse to fade away. His former gang members, including the relentless Bitter Creek (John Ireland) and Arkansas (Charles Kemper), draw him back towards the world he longs to escape. His true identity is exposed, and Doolin finds himself once again donning the mantle of the gang leader. As the law closes in, Doolin's past and present collide, forcing him to grapple with his destiny as an outlaw in the unforgiving landscapes of Oklahoma. The Doolins of Oklahoma weaves a captivating tale of a man caught between his past transgressions and his aspirations for a peaceful future.
