Plot

In the heart of the film, "The Depths" (1963), we find ourselves entwined in the lives of two orphaned sisters, Michele and Marie, who have found meager existence in the thankless role of servants to a wealthy family. In the vacant shell of the family's mansion, the sisters unravel, their passions and fears surfacing as they lament their unpaid wages and uncertain future. Their solitude spirals between moments of exhilarating freedom and crippling anxiety. However, the tranquility of their isolation is shattered with the abrupt return of the family. The sisters shift unpredictably between sycophantic adoration and blatant hostility, a testament to their complex relationship with their employers. The mounting insanity of their situation swells to a fever pitch upon the shocking revelation that the family intends to sell the grand house, leaving the fate of Michele and Marie hanging in the balance. "The Depths" breathes life into the stark reality of societal structures, unearthing the raw human emotions beneath the surface, and leaving viewers teetering on the precipice of the unknown.
