The Decoy Bride (2011)

Katie Nic Aoidh, a thirty-two-year-old woman, finds herself back in her tiny childhood home of Hegg, an obscure island in the Outer Hebrides, escaping the wreckage of yet another failed relationship and a disappointing life in Edinburgh. Her ailing mother Iseabail runs the only bed and breakfast in this isolated place, where the only mark of fame is being the setting of the celebrated novel, "The Ornithologist's Wife," penned by James Arber. However, the Hegg portrayed in the book is a far cry from reality as Arber has never set foot on the island, crafting his narrative from web searches and wild imagination. Meanwhile, Arber is engaged to the dazzling Hollywood starlet, Lara Tyler, the world's most desired woman, who is enamored with Arber's fictional Hegg. Their previous wedding attempts have been relentlessly sabotaged by the paparazzi, particularly by the cunning Marco Ballani. In a desperate bid for privacy, Lara and her resourceful assistant Steve Korbitz choose Hegg for their secret wedding, masquerading it as a marketing conference. This sparks a glimmer of hope among the islanders for a prosperous future. The challenge lies in transforming the island into the romantic haven described in Arber's novel, a place that exists only in fiction. As the island is invaded by paparazzi, Steve hatches a last-minute scheme: a decoy bride. Enter Katie, the only eligible woman on the island, who is coaxed into playing the reluctant stand-in for Lara. As she and James partake in a sham ceremony to distract the paparazzi, things spiral out of control. Lara disappears into hiding, mistaken identities abound, and unexpected alliances form, leading to a series of comic misadventures.
