Plot

In the aftermath of an apocalyptic war, an eight-year-old boy named Jesús inhabits a disintegrating underground refuge with eight other survivors, their world reduced to a restricted, dangerous husk of its former self. The group, a motley crew of characters including the authoritative Maria and her lover Pablo, the gay couple Lucas and Mateo, the celestial observer Magdalena, the adolescent Ana, the resilient Pedro, and the solitary Judas, live in a perpetual state of hyper-awareness. They are forever under the watchful eye of the contaminated mutants known as The Strangers, their existence punctuated by the chilling threat of spectral entities named The Invisibles who strike during the Cold Hour. Rations are dwindling, and the need for supplies, medications, and ammunition is growing more urgent by the day. Organizing perilous expeditions to a nearby store has become a grim necessity, forcing them to venture outside their crumbling sanctuary. But the world beyond their habitat is overshadowed by an ominous presence so terrifying that it remains unspoken, stifling their hopes for a life above ground. Every day, as their sanctuary grows colder and their protection more precarious, they have to seal themselves into their rooms, void of warmth, to shield against the spectral Invisibles. The surface world, ravaged by nuclear warfare, taunts them with its unattainable promise of escape. When the threat of The Invisibles begins to undermine their safety, the survivors are compelled to confront the dreaded outside. In this stark, chilling narrative, their struggle for survival becomes a desperate quest for a life beyond the dark hour.
