Plot

In the seemingly tranquil bilingual farming community of St-Michel, Manitoba, a silent turmoil brews beneath the veneer of peace. The life of the disturbed teenager, Jeanne Séraphin, takes a dramatic turn when she barely survives an unusual bout of bleeding. This mysterious incident incites a whirlwind of devotion from those desperate for a divine intervention. The Catholic Church, Dakota elders, and an American Pentecostal preacher all compete for access to the young woman, eager to use her suffering as proof of their faiths. Louis, Jeanne's father and a Métis bar owner, battles the shame of his heritage, seeing his daughter's plight as a chance to both profit and earn the town's acceptance. Meanwhile, Jeanne's mother Danielle grapples with her faith, her marriage, and her life choices, spiraling into a deeper abyss of despair when Jeanne is abducted. However, a wise mystic emerges from the shadows, rescuing Jeanne from a malevolent presence and providing clarity to the peculiar events enveloping her. Jeanne's revelation that divine existence can harmonize with human fallibility swiftly distinguishes the authentic believers from the charlatans. The choice of a virtuous path now rests on each individual, shaping the fate of St-Michel and its inhabitants.
