The Contractor (2007)

In the shadow of his past failures, retired C.I.A. black-ops hitman, James Dial (Wesley Snipes), lives a solitary life on his ranch in the vast expanse of Montana. His former employer, Jeremy Collins (Ralph Brown), approaches him with a chance at redemption - a mission to eliminate notorious terrorist leader, Ali Mahmud Jahar (Nikolai Sotirov), a ghost from Dial's past who once slipped through his fingers due to an unfortunate lapse. Armed with a new identity, an assistant named Terry Winchell (Richard Harrington), and a London safe house, Dial sets off on his quest for redemption. Hidden in the bell tower of an old church, disguised as a priest, he watches his target, patiently waiting for the perfect shot. He doesn't miss this time, but the mission is far from over. A delayed getaway car and the relentless pursuit of the police result in a deadly shootout, claiming the life of Winchell and leaving Dial injured and on the run. He finds refuge in the safe house, where he encounters a young girl, Emily Day (Eliza Bennett). Emily, a curious twelve-year-old living with her grandmother, becomes an unlikely ally, aiding Dial in his hour of need. Despite Jahar's elimination, the mission is deemed a failure. A security camera has captured Dial's escape, putting Collins' reputation at risk. Under investigation for running a covert C.I.A. hit squad, Collins resorts to desperate measures to preserve his name. He frames Dial for the murder of Detective Chief Superintendent Andrew Windsor (Charles Dance). Now a fugitive, Dial must navigate the treacherous landscape of betrayal and deception. With the British Police, helmed by the vengeful Detective Inspector Annette Ballard (Lena Headey), Windsor's daughter, hot on his trail, Dial must fight to prove his innocence and outwit those who seek to bury the truth forever.
