The Con Artist (2010)

Upon being released from a five-year sentence for grand theft auto, Vince Dorian yearns for a clean slate. However, his former boss, John Kranski, reminds him of an unsettled debt - the money Vince had to abandon during the heist that led to his conviction. Vince is reluctantly thrust back into the underworld, expected to repay Kranski by delivering a stolen car shipment to a client. In the midst of his turmoil, Vince crosses paths with Belinda Bloome, a fiery art gallery owner who is captivated by his unusual hobby. Vince, in his spare time, crafts intricate sculptures from discarded scrap metal, an activity that provides solace from his criminal past. Belinda, recognizing his raw talent, offers to represent him, believing his art could be his ticket out of Kranski's clutches. Vince's passion for art blossoms under Belinda's patronage and the admiration of Julien, a high-end art collector. He starts to envision his art as a means to repay his debt to Kranski, a path that doesn't lead back to prison. However, Kranski has other plans; he not only wants Vince to continue his life of crime but envisions him as his successor. As Vince grapples with his precarious situation, a host of characters add to the complexity: Dean and Larry, Kranski's rather dull yet ambitious henchmen looking for a bigger slice of the pie; Randall Pogue, Vince's garrulous parole officer with ulterior motives; and Kristen, Belinda's devoted assistant who's stolen Vince's heart. Against the backdrop of Toronto's gritty underworld and the glamorous art scene, Vince must reconcile his dual life, determined to repay his debt and win Kristen's affection without resorting to his old criminal ways. His journey to redemption is fraught with danger and deception, but with the power of art and love on his side, Vince might just find a way out of the life he desperately wants to leave behind.
