Plot

From the sun-soaked outback of Australia, a troubled Bishop journeys to seek the aid of Perry, a cunning lawyer, in unraveling a two-decade-old case of a woman wrongfully accused of manslaughter. The case is shrouded in mystery and privilege, entangling the affluent Mr. Brownley and a young woman claiming to be his granddaughter - a claim that reeks of deceit. However, the Bishop's quest for justice is abruptly cut short when an unknown assailant brutally attacks him in his hotel room, forcing him to take an unscheduled departure on a boat. Left with a case and a name - Ida Gilbert - Perry ventures into the labyrinth of lies surrounding the Brownley estate, but his efforts to penetrate the fortress of Mr. Brownley's indifference are futile. The plot thickens when a clandestine rendezvous between Mr. Brownley and Ida turns deadly. The night air is punctuated by the echo of a gunshot, and Mr. Brownley is left lifeless, the smoking gun bearing Ida's fingerprints. As Ida is apprehended for Brownley's murder, Perry finds himself plunged into a whirlpool of deception and danger, forced to untangle a web of lies that could prove fatal.
