Plot

In the grim shadow of World War II, the neutral, yet unwelcoming shores of Switzerland echo a stern warning to war-torn refugees: "Our boat is full." Amidst this backdrop, a train carrying the desperate and dispossessed momentarily pauses in a secluded Swiss enclave. Six souls seize this fleeting opportunity to escape: four Jews, a young French boy, and a disillusioned German soldier. They find transient sanctuary with a pair of innkeepers in a sleepy village, weaving an intricate tapestry of deceit to survive. The defector masquerades as the patriarch, a woman named Judith pretends to be his spouse, an elderly gentleman from Vienna plays her father, while his granddaughter and the French lad are passed off as their offspring. The masquerade extends to Judith's adolescent brother, who dons the guise of a soldier. But their carefully constructed facade starts to crumble under the weight of fate and the probing inquiries of the local constable. The question that hangs heavy in the frosty Alpine air is: Who will Switzerland welcome into its fold and who will it cast back into the storm of war? The fate of these six lives hinges on the answer, skillfully unspooled in the compelling narrative of "The Boat Is Full".
