Newlyweds Paul and Jennifer Hemdale, portrayed by Lukas Hassel and Natasha Henstridge of "Species", step over the threshold into their dream home, blissfully unaware of the chilling nightmare that awaits them. Their wedded bliss is soon tested, as the sinister secret harbored within the black room in their cellar begins to unravel. This ominous space, a malignant entity in itself, has consumed many victims - including the house's previous inhabitants. Those unfortunate enough to venture into the depths of the basement meet a horrifying fate. Soon, the malevolent force, having bided its time in the confines of the black room, seizes Paul. Released from its prison, the demon begins to indulge in the pleasures of the flesh, transforming Paul into a vessel for its malevolent intent. Jennifer, along with her younger sister Karen, becomes suspicious of the drastic changes in Paul.
