The Amityville Horror (1979)

In the picturesque coastal town of Amityville, a seemingly perfect colonial house stands, steeped in a sinister history that whispers tales of the grisly DeFeo murders. George and Kathy Lutz, newlyweds brimming with optimism, overlook the chilling rumors and, together with their three children, move into what they believe is their dream home, an enchanting yet eerily affordable property. Their noble desire for a tranquil life is, however, met with a maelish torrent of inexplicable occurrences and unsettling incidents. The Lutzes' once vibrant smiles and jubilant laughter soon fade, replaced by the cold dread of a home that seems to be transforming, slowly but relentlessly, into a nightmarish portal to hell. Despite the chilling full disclosure by the real estate agent, George stubbornly clings to his belief that "houses don't have memories." But as the house's malevolent energy begins to seep into their lives, corroding their personalities and casting a dark shadow over their once-happy family, George and Kathy turn to their family priest, Father Delaney. Father Delaney, with his deep-rooted faith, believes the house is haunted and attempts an exorcism. Yet, the satanic forces within the house retaliate, afflicting him with illness and blindness, as they continue their relentless quest to possess George and then the children. As George descends into an obsessive fixation with his axe, Father Delaney, with the aid of another priest, Father Bolen, and a steadfast police detective, must confront the reality of the demonic forces at work. Amid their mounting terror, the question looms - can the Lutz family escape the diabolical clutches of the Amityville horror, or will they too become part of its tragic history?
