In the shadowy expanse of an isolated mansion, the frail and wealthy recluse, Henrietta Winslow, lives in a peculiar harmony with her cherished felines and enigmatic servants. As her health wanes, a motley crew of avaricious relatives swarm the mansion, their eyes gleaming with the promise of an impending fortune. Amidst this frenzied gathering arrives the ambitious real estate broker, Gil Smith, who yearns to possess the mansion and his quirky ally, Mr. Penny, an eccentric furniture dealer intoxicated by the mansion's trove of valuable antiques. However, their calculating hopes are dashed when Henrietta's physician reveals her miraculous recovery, defying all medical odds, much to the chagrin of the expectant relatives. Unwilling to wait for the relentless march of nature, an impatient soul hastens Henrietta's demise with the deadly prick of a knitting needle.
