Plot

In the shadowy underbelly of Los Angeles, Ned Cruz, a world-weary private detective, finds himself ensnared in a convoluted web of mystery and danger. A washed-up boxer turned convict, Anton “The Pro” Protopov, seeks Cruz’s help to locate his missing girlfriend, Lexie Persimmon, a captivating former stripper with whom he fell in love while incarcerated. The couple's love story unfolds through two hundred and sixty heartfelt letters, igniting an obsession in Cruz as he delves deeper into the case. Cruz's quest for Lexie leads him away from the mean streets of LA and into the barren desolation of San Celeritas, New Mexico. On this treacherous journey, he contends with an intimidating Russian boxer, the relentless pursuit of three tenacious LAPD detectives, and the unnerving attention of a black Lincoln he suspects belongs to the vengeful Russian mob. Along this twisted path, Cruz crosses swords and wits with a delusional billionaire, Simon Kestral, obsessed with uncovering the mystery of the Big Bang, and his enigmatic wife, Julie. The plot thickens as Cruz, blinded by a brutal attack, is entangled further into this labyrinthine mystery. Every witness he encounters meets an untimely end, making his mission perilous. As he unravels the complex narrative, he stumbles upon a physicist, Niels Geck, who might hold the key to the puzzle. Amidst the chaos, a passionate affair with a helpful waitress at the Planck's Constant Coffer offers a fleeting sanctuary. The truth, however, proves to be a mercurial entity, morphing at every turn and revealing itself only when it's too late. This riveting tale of intrigue and deception costs ten lives, ensnares thirty million dollars, and could potentially uncover the secrets of the universe itself. In "The Big Bang," nothing is as it seems, and the line between reality and illusion blurs, leaving Cruz—and the audience—in suspense until the very end.
