In the foreboding atmosphere of 1938 Berlin, Louise von Hollendorf, wife to the charismatic and successful politician Heinz von Hollendorf, finds herself stepping out of her comfortable life and into the mesmerizing world of art. As the wife of a rising star in pre-war German politics, her life is a model of societal perfection. Yet, her routine is disrupted when she encounters Mitsuko Matsugae, an enthralling Japanese woman who is not only the daughter of the Ambassador of Japan in Berlin but also an enigmatic artist. Their friendship quickly blossoms into an intoxicating love affair, a clandestine dance of passion hidden within the shadows of their public lives.
