Marie Skinner, a gum-cracking, frizzy-haired opportunist with a keen eye for gold, and her jazz-loving accomplice, Babe Winsor, concoct a devious plan to ensnare the unsuspecting, robust, middle-aged real estate mogul, William Judson, in their web of deceit. Using the charm of her provocative allure and sweet-sounding melodies, Marie infiltrates Judson's world, skillfully seducing him with a concoction of flattering compliments, seductive glances, and revealing attire.
Just as their plan seems to be going smoothly, a wrench is thrown into the works when Judson's devoted wife and their two children inadvertently spot him in a risqué display of indulgence at a nightclub with the cunning Marie. Heartbroken and betrayed, his wife confronts him, leading to Judson's departure from their home.
With Judson on the hook, Babe pushes Marie to sell him worthless bonds, escalating their plot. Amidst the chaos, suspense hangs heavily in the air - will the distraught mother take her own life?
