Plot

In the eerie realm of Backwater, a town suffocated by its own fear, the silence is routinely pierced by the chilling visits of the enigmatic Undertaker. His presence casts a gloomy shadow over the devout townsfolk, for his arrival is always followed by the cold grasp of death. The townspeople live in constant dread, each suspecting that they could be the next to be claimed by the specter of death. Amidst this terror, the town's solitary atheist, a jovial tramp, stands apart. Untroubled by the divine or the deathly, he makes his home in an improvised shed at the heart of the town, his songs disturbing the quietude with a merry defiance. The townsfolk, guided by their paranoia and the words of their fervent priest, see his cheer as a macabre harbinger - for it seems the Undertaker's visits coincide with the tramp's melodies. But when a visit from the somber Undertaker yields no death, the tension in Backwater reaches a feverish peak. The townspeople are left grappling with their fears, the role of the carefree tramp, and the unsatisfied hunger of the Undertaker. As the terror escalates, the spectral gravedigger's promise of death looms heavier than ever, foreshadowing that he won't leave empty-handed this time. The question remains - is the tramp the root of their misfortunes, or merely a scapegoat for the town's own mortality?
