Plot

In the eerie prelude to the infamous Amityville Horror, we journey back one year prior to the Lutzes setting foot on 112 Ocean Avenue. Amidst the ominous darkness of Amityville, Ronald "Butch" DeFeo Jr., a troubled twenty-three-year-old and eldest son of Ronald and Louise DeFeo, is pushed to the brink. On the chilling night of November 13, 1974, tormented by relentless, piercing "voices," he takes in his hands a formidable .35 calibre lever-action rifle. As his family slumbers peacefully, oblivious to their impending doom, Butch executes his parents and four unsuspecting siblings, forever staining the house with their blood. In the ensuing trial, DeFeo Jr. pleads not guilty by reason of insanity, attributing the horrifying act to the commanding "voices" resonating within the walls of the house. Found guilty on six counts of second-degree murder, he is incarcerated in the maximum-security Sullivan Correctional Facility, New York, where he remains to this day. Yet, despite the closure of the trial, an unsettling air of mystery hangs heavy over the tragic incident. Was it Ronald who truly instigated the evil that the house on Ocean Avenue would become notoriously known for, or was it something far more insidious, deeply rooted within the house itself? This is not just their story, but the genesis of the Amityville Horror. Witness the haunting chronicle that triggered a legacy of terror.
