The 25th Hour (1967)

In the shadowed folds of World War II, a tranquil Romanian village becomes the stage for a harrowing tale of mistaken identity and tragic irony. The story revolves around Johann Moritz, played by Anthony Quinn, a hardworking gentile peasant. His beautiful wife, Suzanna, portrayed by Virna Lisi, attracts the unwanted attention of the village gendarme, a lustful figure of authority. When Suzanna rejects his advances, the spurned gendarme retaliates with a sinister ploy. He frames Johann as Jewish, a damning accusation in the war-torn climate.
