Plot

In the heart of summer, two young lovers, Antoine and Marie, secretly promise their lives to each other. Antoine, a Southern boy whose father runs a quaint pedal boat rental service, and Marie, a Parisian girl, the daughter of a high-ranking railway executive, decide it's time to bring their worlds together before they tie the knot. The sun-drenched holidays present the perfect occasion for such a meeting, with Antoine extending an invitation to Marie's family to immerse themselves in the relaxed Southern lifestyle. However, the anticipated harmonious union quickly turns sour. The stark cultural contrast between the reserved Malhouin and the lively Lartigue families exacerbates tensions, pushing their relationship to the brink of collapse. Amidst the family turmoil, the star-crossed lovers find their relationship tested as well, as the green-eyed monster of jealousy rears its head. Will their love survive the summer, or will their secret engagement unravel along with the family ties? 'That Tender Age' is a captivating exploration of love, family dynamics and the complexities of cultural differences.
