Plot

In the sultry streets of Buenos Aires, on the cusp of his 18th birthday, Bennie, a young waiter employed aboard a cruise ship, finds himself on a quest of familial rediscovery. The city's tango rhythms and passionate whispers become the backdrop as he embarks on a search for his elusive older brother, Tetro–a once-promising writer, now a shadow of his former glory, encased in his own enigma and a life shared with Miranda, his companion. The brothers' reunion is a clash of cold indifference and searing curiosity. Tetro, a burnt-out candle flickering between warmth and frosty detachment, introduces Bennie as a 'friend.' Encased in silence, he staunchly refuses to delve into their shared past or reveal the identity of their enigmatic father to Miranda. Yet, the specter of their father looms, casting long, unsettling shadows over both brothers, driving a silent wedge deeper into their strained relationship. Stumbling upon Tetro's unfinished novel, Bennie finds himself caught in a labyrinth of untold stories and concealed truths. His discovery becomes a beacon, potentially illuminating their shared past and the mysterious figure of their father. With the pages of the nearly-completed novel as his guide, he pushes against Tetro's stubborn walls, seeking to reclaim his place in his brother's life and understand his own cryptic history. Tetro is a tale of two brothers, their strained reunion, and a shared past that refuses to stay buried. It's a journey of Bennie's persistence and Tetro's resistance, a dance where revelation and reconciliation might be just around the corner, or forever out of reach.
